Baked Peanut Butter Banana Dog Biscuits

Okay, friend, let’s talk about a cookie that will make your dog look at you like you’ve just been crowned Best Human Ever. I’m talking about these baked peanut butter banana dog biscuits.. affectionately nicknamed the Hound Dog Cookie.

They’re crunchy, wholesome, and made with just three ingredients (plus a little bacon-peanut butter drizzle if you want to be extra).

And let me just say, when you pull out a tray of these DIY peanut butter banana dog cookies, your pup is going to think they’ve won the lottery. Bonus? You’ll feel like you’ve officially leveled up to “Pinterest Dog Mom/Dad” status without needing a culinary degree.

Why You’ll Feel Like the Best Dog Parent Ever

  • You know exactly what’s going into your dog’s cookies. No mystery fillers, no weird preservatives, just wholesome ingredients.
  • They’re ridiculously easy to make.. like, can’t-even-burn-toast easy.
  • Your pup’s tail wags will hit helicopter speeds when you bring these out. Instant serotonin boost for both of you.

WHAT’S IN A DIY BAKED DOG TREAT

BANANA – This homemade dog biscuit recipe is perfect to make for when those bananas are starting to get a bit overripe. Bananas are an excellent source of potassium and Vitamin C. And with the added boost of energy, they also help your pups tummy stay healthy and regular.

PEANUT BUTTER – Feed your dog peanut butter is a great way to add some extra protein and healthy fats to their diet. Be sure to choose a natural peanut butter for your pup with no added sugars or sweeteners. Perfect for a banana oat peanut butter dog treat base.

OATS– Yep, we’re making homemade dog treats with oats because oats are full of fiber, gentle on digestion, and give these biscuits a chewy crunch.

BACON GREASE – Ok, before anyone gets upset…the adding of bacon grease to these baked dog treats optional. The amount of leftover bacon grease is tiny and spread out over an entire recipe of dog treats. Completely optional and just a little bit of extra flavor.

WHY MAKE DIY DOG TREATS

Making homemade dog treats for your favorite four-legged friend is fun, easy, economical and most importantly, quality controlled.

  • If you like to cook, why not cook for your pups too? If you have kids, it’s also an easy way to get them involved in the kitchen .. they will love making treats for their best furry friend.
  • Most of my recipes for dog treats are made with staple pantry ingredients you probably already have on hand along with some fresh fruits, veggies and proteins.
  • Store bought dog treats are processed and made with who knows what! Making homemade dog cookies ensures you know what ingredients you are adding and these baked dog biscuits are way better for your pups than anything you will buy in a box.
  • You’ll know exactly what’s in these healthy dog treats recipes.. no preservatives, no fillers.
  • They’re insanely easy to make. We’re talking 3 ingredient dog biscuits you can whip up faster than your dog can hear the treat jar open.
  • The joy of seeing your pup’s tail go full helicopter mode when you bring out these paw print dog cookies? Priceless.

HOW DO YOU MAKE BAKED DOG BISCUITS

  • To make this easy dog biscuit recipe, preheat oven to 300 degrees and lay out your silicone mold.
  • Start by adding your oats to a mini food processor and breaking them up a bit with a few pulses of your mixer.
  • Add your oats to a large mixing bowl along with the banana.
  • Using the back of a fork, break up the banana pieces and mush into the oats creating a paste like consistency.
  • Add in the peanut butter and stir together with a large spoon or spatula to combine.
  • Spoon the peanut butter mixture into your silicone mold shapes and skim with the back of a knife to remove any excess cookie batter to create an even cookie.

  • Move silicon mold to a baking sheet (for stability) and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • Remove from oven when cooked, let cool for 10 minutes before using your hands to pop the cookies from their molds. Move to a wire rack to let them cool completely.
  • Once your dog biscuits have cooled, make their drizzle. Add peanut butter and oil or bacon grease (if using) to a microwave safe bowl and heat for 15-20 seconds. Stir together to make a thinned out peanut butter .. it should be able to be drizzled from the back of a fork or spoon … if not, heat again in 10 second increments until you reach the right consistency. You will probably pick up a couple of Quality Control Supervisors at this point if you haven’t already.

  • Move your cooled dog biscuits to a plate or a piece of parchment paper for easy clean up. Using the back of a knife, spoon or fork lightly drizzle your peanut butter ‘frosting’ over your cookies. Set aside to let the frosting set up a bit. Then share your DIY dog cookies with your favorite furry friend.

HOW TO STORE DIY DOG COOKIES

Once fully cooled, I always store my homemade peanut butter dog biscuits in an airtight container (or large zip top bag) in the refrigerator. The will keep for up to a month. With the peanut butter bacon drizzle, I find a large plastic container is best or that drizzle will make a mess of the cookies.

EXPERTS TIPS FOR PERFECT DOG TREAT

  • Adding your oats to a food processor isn’t NECESSARY so if you don’t have a food processor to cut them down a bit, don’t worry about it. Oats as is are perfectly fine for your dog to eat. Breaking them down is just an extra step to make them easier to manage size-wise.
  • The bacon grease is completely optional in this recipe. It’s fun little nod to Elvis. If you don’t have bacon grease hanging around or don’t feel comfortable adding it to your dog biscuit recipe, leave it out. Substitute with oil instead.
  • Be sure to use natural peanut butter with no extra sugars or sweeteners added.
  • I always seem to have quick oats on hand but if you don’t have any quick oats, whole oats can can be used instead.
  • You know how you always say you are going to make banana bread out of those overripe bananas and you never do?.. or is that just me?… these Baked Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats are the perfect way to use up those bananas before they go bad.
  • Be sure to really pack in your batter in the molds and make sure you don’t neglect filling in the little puppy toe parts of the molds. I always overfill and then use the back of a butter knife to even out the top.

These baked peanut butter banana dog biscuits aren’t just cookies—they’re proof you’re crushing the dog parent game. Whether you keep it simple with the 3 ingredient dog biscuits base or go all out with the bacon drizzle, you’ll have a tail-wagging, treat-loving pup at your side.
