Baked Peanut Butter Banana Dog Biscuits are easy to make and a tasty DIY dog cookie your pups will love and made with only THREE ingredients. Affectionately called the Hound Dog cookie, these homemade puppy biscuits are made with banana, oats, peanut butter and even have a bacon peanut butter drizzle on top.
To Make the Baked Peanut Butter Banana Dog Biscuits
To make this easy dog biscuit recipe, preheat oven to 300 degrees and lay out your silicone mold. Start by adding your oats to a mini food processor and breaking them up a bit with a few pulses of your mixer.
Add your oats to a large mixing bowl along with the banana. Using the back of a fork, break up the banana pieces and mush into the oats creating a paste like consistency.
Add in the peanut butter and stir together with a large spoon or spatula to combine. Spoon the peanut butter mixture into your silicone mold shapes and skim with the back of a knife to remove any excess cookie batter to create an even cookie.
Move silicon mold to a baking sheet (for stability) and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven when cooked, let cool for 10 minutes before using your hands to pop the cookies from their molds. Move to a wire rack to let them cool completely. Once your dog biscuits have cooled, make their drizzle.
How to Make the Peanut Butter Bacon Drizzle
Add peanut butter and oil or bacon grease (if using) to a microwave safe bowl and heat for 15-20 seconds and stir together to make a thinned out peanut butter .. it should be able to be drizzled from the back of a fork or spoon ... if not, heat again in 10 second increments until you reach the right consistency.
Move your cooled dog biscuits to a plate or a piece of parchment paper for easy clean up. Using the back of a knife, spoon or fork lightly drizzle your peanut butter 'frosting' over your cookies. Set aside to let the frosting set up a bit and then share your DIY dog cookies with your favorite furry friend.

EXPERTS TIPS FOR PERFECT DOG TREATS
Adding your oats to a food processor isn't NECESSARY so if you don't have a food processor to cut them down a bit, don't worry about it. Oats as is are perfectly fine for your dog to eat, the breaking them down is just an extra step to make them easier to manage size-wise.
The bacon grease is completely optional in this recipe. It's fun little nod to Elvis but if you don't have bacon grease hanging around or don't feel comfortable adding it to your dog biscuit recipe, leave it out and substitute with oil instead.
Be sure to use natural peanut butter with no extra sugars or sweeteners added.
I always seem to have quick oats on hand but if you don't have any quick oats, whole oats can can be used instead.
You know how you always say you are going to make banana bread out of those overripe bananas and you never do?.. or is that just me?... these Baked Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats are the perfect way to use up those bananas before they go bad.
Be sure to really pack in your batter in the molds and make sure you don't neglect filling in the little puppy toe parts of the molds. I always overfill and then use the back of a butter knife to even out the top.
